When I started the channel, I originally intended to do fix it type videos and build DIY kits. I then realised that possibly wouldn’t be enough, especially as the price of broken or faulty items on eBay is on the rise (like everything else).

Quite out of fluke, my first video ended up being a review and I really enjoyed it. That added another possible avenue for content, but it still wasn’t enough. I was secretly beginning to worry that I would run out of videos before I really got started.

Then, out of the blue, I get a WhatsApp message from my mother-in-law, asking if I want something they found in the loft. She said I could try to fix it or they would dispose of it.

That loft ‘something’ is a Commodore PET (CBM 2001-8 Series) with a chiclet keyboard.

Naturally, I snapped her hand off and a couple of days later, this magnificent 1977 machine is sat in my kitchen and I am planning a series of videos whereby I get it going again.

Not only was there a Commodore CBM 2001 Series, but there are books and 2 shoeboxes of tapes. The machine does turn on and show text but it doesn’t get past the following screen. Hoping a good clean will help but finding out will be most of the fun!!

I will have to be honest, there are a few hurdles I need to overcome before this.

• I dont know anything about it or what year it is
• I have no clue how to fix one
• I dont really know what is wrong, let alone the remedy
• It is so big, my top down camera setup won’t work and so I may actually have to be on camera myself. Something I planned to do in 12 months.

They are some big hurdles but this is just too amazing an opportunity to pass up.

I mentioned in my last video that I love to watch Adrian’s Digital Basement on YouTube and never thought I would get the chance myself to work on these amazing old machines like he does.

So there we have it, in amongst the normal videos, there will now be a series following me as I try to save this iconic machine from before I was born!
